Hey hey, Sorry for the lack of updates. We're trying to redo the whole website thing, and it has continually fallen between the cracks due to other projects (like the kind with clients) taking priority. I promise that sometime in my lifetime this site will be up to date and maybe even fairly snazzy. Until then you can watch some of what we've been doing: A short doc on the revitalization attempts for downtown Pittsburgh http://www.current.com/items/86564031_steel_cities_of_the_future And a piece we did about Embryonic Stem Cell research and this great artist from Pittsburgh, Frank Ferraro, who is living with Parkinsons Disease: http://current.com/items/88793205_the_traveler (photo above: Frank Ferraro from The Traveler) OK, more soon. ish. Sat May 26th, Melwood Screening Room @ Pittsburgh Filmmakers. 7:30 - Reception. 8:00 Screening. 5$ FREE BEER - FOOD - CUPCAKES Don't be late! Last year it sold out 20 minutes before the screening. Here's how it works: 15 filmmakers were given the same short films, and 30 days to produce their own piece from only the footage contained in them. The footage may be manipulated in any way but no visuals stemming from any other source may be introduced. Audio may, however come from any source, so long as it is not the property of any other entity, unless that entity has given permission for its use in writing. Last year we had a blast. And this year looks like it might be even better. Free food from Whole Foods, free beer, free cupcakes from Dozen, and some free gifts will be raffled off from Unicorn Mountain and Encyclopedia Destructica. All proceeds minus cost and a tiny bit of compensation will be split among the screening filmmakers. Two awards will be handed out: Audience Choice (chosen by -duh! the audience, and Filmmaker's Choice (chosen by the participating filmmakers). The Filmmaker's Choice selects the source films for the next year's event. Each will also win some prizes and have their work showcased on our podcast. Join us afterwards at Remedy (Butler St. Lawrenceville) for the afterparty with DJ's Howler Monkey, D-Bag, and Baron von Bum Lung. To get more info, please email ambulantic@gmail.com

We love Jane LeBlond. Her film The World of Tomorrow was the first of the Pgh Creative Commons Festival films to be turned in, and the moment I saw it I thought, "Holy shit. This Festival is going to be awesome." Then I got really scared to show my film. Anyway. She tied for the Filmmaker's Choice Award. Here we present an interview (mostly her being silly), Still Life and Black Room, two amazing films that she did in 2006 while studying at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped make the Pittsburgh Creative Commons Film Festival a huge success. We sold out the Melwood, defied many peoples expectations and really put together something that we could be proud of.

The audience response was great, the food was eaten and everyone seemed to have a great time.

Now we'll concetrate on getting all of the films available here and adding the expanded content, which includes interviews, slideshows, and more great films from the winners.

Congratulations to them as well:

KC Milliken: Audience Choice Award, Filmmaker's Choice Award.

Jane LeBlond/Tony Balko: Filmmaker's Choice Award (Tie)

Lavender Group: 2nd Place Audience Choice

Justin Crimone: 3rd Place Audience Choice

Special Thanks: Dreaming Ant (DVDs) www.dreamingant.com, The New Yinzer www.newyinzer.com, The Quiet Storm www.quietstormcoffee.com, Whole Foods Market, The Record Village, i Was A Camera, and everyone who came.
